Setting
Dolphin
Day Nursery is situated witihn the grounds of Falconers Hill Infants
school although our entrance is located at the top of the Community
Centre car park off Ashby Road. Our setting is purpose built and
constructed in 2011. The setting has four separate classrooms
which include our Starfish Room for children aged 3 months to 5 years,
the Seahorse Room for our Toddlers aged 2 to 3, the Mermaid Room for
preschool children aged 3 to 5, and finally we have our Dolphins Room
where our Out of School and Holiday Club children are located. We
have a separate Sensory Room for use by all children which they find
captivating. We have two secure outdoor gardens and play areas
for the children to enjoy and with our all-weather surfacing it can be
enjoyed all year round.
We base our routine and learning environment around the needs of the children in our care. We have all the facilities necessary to provide for the different areas of learning. These include areas for construction, role play, creativity, mark making/graphics area, table top activities, computer activities and a larger group area for social interaction. We have a large selection of play equipment for use by the children which includes bikes, slides, cars, balls, rocking horse, hoops, beanbags and ball pit along with other floor-based toys. We also participate in circle and ring games. The garden has a number of different areas for the children ro enjoy including a sensory garden, vegetable patch, digging area, Bob-the-Builder construction zone and for the older children tunnels and balancing beams.
When the weather allows, we also take the children out of the nursery environment to enjoy the open spaces such as Daventry Country Park and the learning environment of the local library, among other walks and trips.
